Getting to Grips with Fence Hire
Fence hire can be a bit tricky with the vast array of varieties, it can all be rather difficult to know where to begin. Looking at the the different types - heras fencing, hoarding, crowd barriers, pickets - to name a few, to the unitiated it looks like a foreign language! Because I work in event hire for Mark Attwood, I have picked up a few tricks with fence hire over the years, which can be handy to know when you are put in charge of a job. Let's take an example - organising the entrance to a heavily attended concert. The sheer amount of people descending on to the site means that you will need sturdy equipement to keep everyone safe and heading in the right direction. Crowd barriers are perfect for this - light enough for easy transport but sturdy enough to create a powerful wall to lead people to their seating area. One thing you must do is figure out the quantity of units required but you should only do this after ascertaining your fencing needs. Getting a tape measure, span out how big the area you are working on is, and then work out how much of this space you want the fencing to take up. Afterwards, the length of barrier needs to be worked out - crowd barriers for example measure 2.5 metres. Knowing this, it is easy enough to calculate the amount of units required.
As well as just the basic units, you need to ask when booking if your order comes with clips and footings, I happen to know fence expert Mark Attwood, so I asked him. These are parts of the fence hire - clips allow the units to hook together and footings act like 'feet' and keep the fence hire stood up. It is industry standard to quote per unit but please bear in miind that haulage charge will be extra and obviously necessary to get the fencing from storage to site. This price can vary depending on how far the depot is to you. Hoarding is usually used for reconstruction work on buildings particularly supermarkets. Anti-vandal fencing, which is also known as anticlimb fencing or Heras fencing, is usually used on construction sites - it is perfect because of the tight mesh of the fencing, it is almost impossible to climb especially as it is 3 metres tall! So don't be confused by fence hire, it is quite easy - just work out the specifics of your particular job and speak to a fence hire company who will give you some good advice on hire. fence security
